Soul-Led vs. Ego-Led: How Are You Leading Your Life?

Throughout history, spirituality and religion have been used as pathways to enlightenment and self-discovery. But let’s be honest—many have also used them as a means to bypass deep wounds, avoid accountability, and mask toxic character traits.

Some of the very people who claim spiritual attainment are actually operating from their ego, disguising superiority as wisdom. They preach love and light while projecting their unhealed pain onto others. They reject criticism under the guise of being "high vibrational" rather than doing the real work of healing and self-awareness.

And yet, on the flip side, we see a different misconception—the belief that owning your story, sharing your truth, and allowing yourself to shine is an act of ego. This couldn’t be further from the truth. There are deeper factors to consider.

I’ll be honest with you, I ask myself this question often. As an extraverted person and ex performer I have to check in with myself in a regular basis, because let’s be honest we see quotes all the time that say ‘celebrate in silence’. - But I’ll be honest that dosen’t land with me, I suffered in silence so now I want to celebrate myself and others out loud!

If you are wondering how you are leading your life here are a few points to consider.

1. Why Do You Feel Called to Share Your Story?

Are you speaking out to inspire others, to offer them a guiding light? Or is it about self-glorification, proving something to the world? The difference is clear—when your words create space for others to heal, that’s soul-led.

When your words demand validation, that’s ego-led. To deepen this, anxiety is a pull from our ego, our shadow screaming to be seen and validated.

When you share your truth to say what you need to say because you feel like it needs to be said thats honouring your soul.

2. Are You Shining to Show the Way or to Look Down on Others?

Leadership and visibility are not inherently ego-driven. The sun doesn’t shine to boast about its brightness—it shines because it’s what it was created to do. When you step into your light, do you use it to illuminate the path for others, or to cast shadows on those who aren’t where you are yet? True soul-led leadership uplifts. Ego-led leadership divides. I see it all the time the ‘I make 10k in my pants’ style posts are great at grabbing attention, but unless that post says how they got to that point, what they went through and how they teach other women to do the same, I won't stop and read. Money doesn’t need to be on a pedestal, I took it off, don’t get me wrong I want to see women making BIG money, I really do, but in all honesty its quite a masculine way of doing things. On the other hand speak about it to inspire absolutely but we have to ask why is this important. If its because the more money you make the more people you can help then yess Queen! If it’s look how ahead I am in this game compared to others, thats ego.

3. Debunking the "Evil Eye" Concept

Many fear that being seen means inviting negativity, jealousy, or "evil eye." I speak to women of all cultures and this very concept is deeply engrained and to be completely honest I believe that what we believe to be true is. So if you believe that people can take whats meant for you they will. I chose to believe, no one can take what is divinely meant for you. You can choose to believe this too and also learn to protect your energy, that will prevent anyone else’s energy or opinion getting into your frequency.

Living in fear of others’ opinions or envy is, in itself, an ego-driven belief. When you are truly soul-led, you recognise that your path is yours alone, this might be something you have to learn, which is absolutely the work I teach, how you can feel truly unshakable, protected, and purposeful.

What’s Your True Intention?

If healing, teaching, mentoring, or guiding others is part of your mission, then your story is meant to be shared. As a Leo Sun and Rising, I was born to lead, to speak, to inspire. The lessons I’ve learned through my healing journey weren’t just for me, they were preparation for this phase of my life, where I empower others to rise above their own darkness and step into their divine light.

But if you don’t feel called to share, then don’t. It’s that simple.

What we cannot do is sit in judgment of those who are in the arena, doing the work, healing, and embodying their truth, while we remain on the sidelines. As Brené Brown says, "If you're not in the arena getting your ass kicked on occasion, I'm not interested in your feedback."

To my opening statement, I actually had an ex say to me ‘us being together didn’t feel right in his soul’, which was evident in the work I do, that he was emotionally avoidant. He used spirituality to bypass owning his feelings. What I see a lot in various spaces in using spirituality/religion as an excuse or reason takes away accountability and in all honest, accountability, truth and integrity are the soul-led space.

I hope this blog brag points of reflection and a different perspective but more than anything I hope you lean into what feels true for you. You’ll gain clarity on what your truth is through gaining self awareness. Journal, ask yourself the questions from above and that in turn will help you forge your soul-led pathway.

And if from reading this you feel the call to step into your truth, share your story, and lead from a soul-led space, but don’t know how and what that looks like for you, I invite you to book a call with me. Let’s explore your healing journey and uncover the deeper purpose behind your voice.
