The Speaker’s Toolkit For Women: How to Go from Good to Unforgettable
Ever wondered what makes certain speakers unforgettable?
The ones who don’t just speak they move you.
You hang on every word, not because it’s perfect, but because it’s real.
Whether you’re leading a team, hosting a workshop, or stepping onto the biggest stage of your life, there’s a difference between performing your message and embodying it.
In this blog, inspired by my podcast episode “The Difference Between a Good Speaker and an Unforgettable One (And How to Become Her)”, I’m breaking down the energetic, emotional, and practical tools that turn a speaker into a force of nature.
Why am I writing this, because I have been a speaker most of my life, throughout my performing career and now in creating and holding spaces for women and girls as a mentor, facilitator and of course speaker and MC. I know that every time I step on stage something magical happens, the audience draws in and feels seen by me, my story and my energy. At the end of every event I am flooded by compliments of how safe they felt, how much of what I shared resonated and how I showed them what was possible for them.
My gift is holding space, owning my power and speaking my truth and I wanted to share this with you, because when we give ourselves the permission to shine we inspire others to do the same. The world needs your voice. Other women need your light. It is time to shine.
This is your Speaker’s Toolkit the inner and outer practices to help you own the room with confidence, authenticity, and presence.
1. Energy vs. Execution: Embody the Message
Good speakers master delivery.
Unforgettable speakers become the message.
When you speak from embodiment from lived experience and energetic alignment — your presence does the heavy lifting. You don’t need to “try” to be powerful; your energy communicates it before you say a word.
Speaker’s Tip: Before your next talk, drop into your body. Ask yourself: “Am I speaking this from truth or performance?”
Your audience will feel the difference instantly. Doing movement before hand will help you shift your energy also.
2. Authenticity Over Perfection
Perfection disconnects. Authenticity magnetises.
Your audience doesn’t remember flawless execution; they remember how you made them feel. When you let your humanity show the pauses, the laughter, the emotion you create resonance.
Practice: Share one story that still moves you. When you speak from your heart, you bypass the intellect and connect straight to theirs. Also don’t be afraid to make mistakes and even laugh at yourself. Sharing things you know will resonate are great connection points (crazy kids, rushed morning, bad hair day etc)
3. Nervous System Mastery: The Real Confidence Code
Confidence isn’t about being loud it’s about being regulated.
A dysregulated nervous system can make you rush your words, forget your lines, or feel detached. But when you ground yourself through breath and presence, you create safety not just for yourself, but for your audience too.
Tool: Try this before stepping on stage:
Breathe in through your nose for 4 counts, hold for 4, exhale for 6. Feel your feet on the ground. Speak from that place of calm power. Also having a killer introduction song will help something that you can dissipate any excess energy, clapping, fist pump, dancing as you come in will support you in shifting from anxious to excited!
4. Storytelling as Soul Connection
Information informs.
Stories transform.
Humans are wired to remember stories. But the magic isn’t in the story itself, it’s in how you tell it. When you speak from your heart, your story becomes a mirror for your audience’s truth.
Speaker’s Tip: Use the “Heart-Head-Heart” framework open with emotion, explain with clarity, and close with feeling. And importantly let it be natural, like you are speaking to a best friend.
5. Feminine Leadership in Speaking
There’s a balance between structure and flow, logic and intuition, the masculine and feminine energies that shape your delivery.
The masculine gives form to your message. The feminine brings life to it. When you integrate both, you speak with grounded authority and magnetic grace. This is also clear when it comes to the tone of your delivery. Playing with the depth of your story to the clarity of your teaching will take your audience on a natural journey.
Embodiment Practice: Before your talk, place one hand on your heart and one on your womb. Feel your intuition activate as you anchor into your power.
6. Magnetic Presence: Command Without Force
Your presence is your most powerful asset.
Magnetic speakers don’t force the room to listen, they invite it. Through posture, breath, and intention, you can shift the entire energy of a space. Allow yourself to move naturally, use your hands as you would in a natural conversation, this flow will ensure your audience feels safe and creates a rhythm.
Try this:
Stand tall. Shoulders relaxed. Slow your pace. Speak to one person’s soul in the crowd at time.
That’s how you create intimacy in any room.
7. Your Voice as a Channel
Your voice carries your essence. When you heal your relationship with your voice, when you release the fear of being “too much” or “not enough”, your words become medicine. This is my work. I support women in owning their power so they can speak their truth through inner child healing and mindset practises take a look here for 1:1 guidance.
Speaker’s Reflection: What stories have silenced your voice in the past? What do you think about your voice? Your Story?
Release them. Your voice is meant to be heard.
8. Are you really supposed to speak publicly?
This is a question I want you to think about deeply. Currently the narrative is speaking on stage will build authority but, is it your zone of genius or something that will showcase you in your best light? Because if its not why would you do it? This is where discernment and self empowerment intersect. You have to be truthful to yourself. If you want to speak to connect and reach your audience great, but if you are doing it because other people are doing it, its not going to land in the right way is it?
I want this question to be your permission slip to say no if it isn’t aligned. It would have either allowed you to take a deep breathe or lit a fire in your belly that says I’m doing this!
